For nearly 100 years, the Exeter Historical Society has stewarded the buildings, artifacts and stories that make Exeter a quintessential New England community. Like many established nonprofits, the Society recognized that its traditional methods of funding were no longer sustaining their operations. Having never conducted a formal fundraising appeal, they realized it was time to explore new funding approaches.
It was our job to prepare the Board to make the significant decisions that would guide the organization through this transition and lay the foundation for a potential future fundraising effort. We facilitated an interactive strategic session designed to deepen Board engagement, define a culture for high-level decision-making and introduce a sustainable governance model to maximize Board effectiveness. To ensure successful outcomes, we crafted a customized implementation toolbox packed with clear objectives, action steps, timelines and support resources.
